By any measure, Shortt Dogg is one of the most talented bands in the southwest United States.  Their ability to fuse soul and jazz with an irresistible groove and intelligent lyrical content has gained for them an extremely loyal following among fans and great respect among their performing peers.  From their inception producer Johann Kimbro choose to develop a group that would fuse R&B and girl group traditions with funk, hip-hop and new jack swing rhythms.

At the heart of Shortt Dogg is the groups’ tight 3-part harmony.  The group features lead vocalist Nikki Nicole, backed up by Ckai Dawson and Shawn Dawson.  All three vocalists sang in church as children, which is where they learned how to harmonize.  It is this combination of sweet harmonies and sophisticated funk that has propelled Shortt Dogg’s success and secured the groups reputation as the “southwest best show & dance band”.
