Jonathan “J.C.” Carter may be the youngest band members of Shortt Dogg, but can definitely hold his own. JC started out playing drums at the age of 6, and learned his craft while playing at church and wherever a percussion instrument. Originally from Atlanta, Georgia, a city that produces major talent in the music industry, he grew up listening and “shedding” to all sorts of different records and drummers that influenced his life, such as Gerald Heyward, Terry Baker, Buddy Rich, Teddy Campbell, Rex Hardy, George “Spanky” McCurdy and his greatest influence of all, Calvin Rodgers. JC has taken some of everything from these artists and molded it into his very own style and craft. Coming from the “new school” era of drummer’s, JC’s background consist of mostly R&B/Hip-Hop, Neo-Soul, and Gospel, although, he listens to EVERYTHING. With a colorful spectrum of ideas and an excellent ear for music and form, this drummer can give you whatever kind of beat you want, when you want it, and how you want it. Full of energy, JC gives 110% behind every performance. He constantly keeps tricks up his sleeve that will have you asking yourself, “where did he get that from?!?”
JC has performed with: Western Hills Fellowship C.O.G., Mount Olive Baptist Church, A-Town Connection, The All-Stars, Doobie Powell, St John Baptist church, Life Church, Net Church, Powerhouse, and others.
JC has been a member of Shortt Dogg since Spring 2009.
