Introducing Shortt Dogg
Their sound is distinctive, passionate, creative,, original, soulful, honest and powerful. For nearly 12 years Shortt Dogg has created a unique sound and become one of the most influential musical groups to ever come out of Oklahoma City. "We've made it this far because we love our music, respect ourselves and adore our fans. But most importantly, we believe in what we do", remarks Johann Kimbro, Shortt Dogg's founder, bassist, producer and bandleader. Shortt Dogg is the untimate contemporary show and dance band.
By any measure, Shortt Dogg is one of the most talented bands to come out of the southwest United States. The ability to fuse R&B and jazz with an irresistible "funk" and intelligent lyrical content has gained the band and extremely loyal following among fans and great respect from their performing peers. From their inception, producer Johann Kimbro choose to develop a group that would fuse traditional female vocal group stylings with funk, neo-soul and hiphop rhythms.
At the heart of Shortt Dogg is the groups tight 3&4 part harmonies. The group features vocalists Nikki Nicole, Ckai Dawson, Shawn Dawson and Brian Baker. All of the vocalist cut their "musical teeth" in the church where they learned to harmonize. It is this combination of sweet harmonies and sophisticated funk that has propelled Shortt Dogg's success and secured the groups reputation as the "southwest's best show & dance band".
